Choose one of the below prompts. Write a typed, TWO PAGE double-spaced paper. These questions may be approached in very different ways and there is no SINGLE way to frame their answers.  Draw on your historical understandings of the material this week to consider what YOU think about these questions. Make sure to have a strong argument supported by evidence. For both question, please do not use any outside sources

1. Think about LBJ and “war”: LBJ launched both a “war” on poverty at home and a “war” in Southeast Asia.  Develop an essay analyzing how you think LBJ’s “wars” were related to each other.

2. The “Age of Containment” during the 1940s and 1950s provides a good example of theinterplay between international politics and domestic issues. Explain how calls to “contain” communism shaped both foreign and domestic policies, and how those foreign and domestic policies shaped each other.
