Assignment 1: Performance-Based Objectives
My intended career path is opening/owning a fitness center or owning a chain of sports outlet stores that cater to local and
professional teams/players
During Week 1 you identified an intended career path for 11 within the industry of administration of athletics. You should
begin to familiarize yourself with as many aspect of the desired position as you can, including job requirements, experience
and skills needed, level of education desired, and a potential career path and timeline of accomplishing your goal. The more
focus and clarity you can have for the position you desire, the more likely you will be to reaching your goal. After reading
the assigned course readings for the week about the use of performance-based objectives for evaluation of organizational
objectives and for evaluation of employee performance, the student is to identify the following:
1. An organizational project typical of the type of organization that the student has designated as their intended
career track (e.g., Season-ticket sales campaign or facility grand opening marketing campaign).
2. A position title of the type that would report administratively to the type of position that the student intends to
pursue as a career (e.g., assistant coach or athletic director).
Directions: The student is asked to develop and write the following:
1. Three (3) performance-based objectives for the organizational project.
• Critically analyze the requirements for successful completion of the organizational project identified and develop
and write three PBO’s that you would be able to utilize in the evaluation of the project’s success.
2. Three (3) performance-based objectives for the position title.
• Critically analyze the characteristics and performance requirements necessary for an individual in the specified
position title to be effective and efficient in their job and then develop and write three PBO’s that you would be able to
utilize in the performance evaluation of an individual working in that position.
Rubric Performance-Based Objectives
The organizational project and position title selected are strong examples of the designated career track specified by the
student. All performance-based objectives are well written and clear and each objective contains all three required elements
of being specific, observable, and measurable. There are no errors in grammar or spelling.
