Discussion – Places in the World
It is difficult to understand the events in history without including the place in which the events occurred. Throughout this course the locations
will take center stage as you navigate your way up to the year 1500.
Explore the webste HyperHistory. Select a location to investigate from the beginning of the timeline to 1500

You should consider the influence geography had on the group(s) living there. Were there natural barriers? Means of transportation? Fertile lands?
Natural resources? A mild climate? What impact do those characteristics have on the people? Was there an already established society? How do these
ideas then relate to the the larger themes of the course: trade, expansion, economy, government, religion, culture, and society?
Share your findings with your classmates. Be sure to include the time period you were investigating and some of the groups that inhabited the area.
What is your overall impression of the impact geography had at the time? Was it an advantage to the societies or a detriment?
