Historians still debate the extent to which the New Deal contributed to the end of the Great Depression, but there is no denying that it left America, and the American government, in a different place. 

In no less than approximately 250 words, discuss and describe the responsibilities of the federal government during an economic crisis.  Why?  Is there a danger that assistance will lead to dependence?  Explain why or why not.  You must support your post with specific examples and be sure to be specific in your reasoning.  Think of your post as the start of a conversation with your fellow students.
