write an OP-ED on any subject covered during the semester in lecture. Articles should be clear, creative and concisely written. When citing facts, students must identify the source. The Op-Ed should be a thoughtful application of a topic that has been covered in class and give the students opinion on the subject. Grades will be NOT be based on the position a student takes, but rather the clarity, creativity and support the student gives to their position. The Op-Ed will be graded on these criteria: Is the topic energy related? Is the article well written, including organization, grammar, and spelling? Are the arguments reasonably justified by the information presented? Is the article an appropriate length? Does the article make a specific point? Does the piece make clear the importance of the issue? Does the article offer specific recommendations? Is the piece creative and fun to read? Students may include graphics in their Op-Ed if they wish.
