Sociologists, especially functionalists, are interested in how the nature of fatherhood in any society “fits” and functions for that particular society.  Describe how fatherhood, throughout history and up until the present day, is always a reflection of the specific needs or structure of a society.  Then discuss the three points that you found interesting in the research on parental involvement; and three points you found interesting in the research on the potential influence of fathers.
