How does this text want to you behave?  Why listen?  What happens if you do? What if you don’t?
What is the emotional tone of this text?  What are its hopes and fears?
What sort of community and what sort of leadership does this text reflect?
Who is the apparent audience of this text, and who is the apparent author?
How is this text to be used?
