project crashing

This order is a chapter, so you donot need to start with introduction.  You need to write “project crashing”. You must follow the textbook that I uploaded, please note that the textbook is very

very very important!!! You must read it before starting. Some tables and figures are necessary like the textbook. The figures are also important, the more the better!!!  You can find some

necessary data in “requirement” and “Project management milestone 1” that I uploaded.

Project Crashing – Also, if you had to ‘crash’ the project, identify which WBS elements you would crash and the impact on the resources and costs.

Background
In order to meet GRI G3 guidelines and the ICMM Sustainable Development Framework requirements, BHP Billiton is implementing an Environmental Performance Information System (EPIS) Project

for its metallurgical and energy coal assets (see Table 1).

The scopes of the three reports are outlined in Annex A.
All of the various items that you will be measuring, including the measurement mechanisms, are contained in Annex B.
Important issues in the project
Important issues to note:
Work Packages. As a minimum, Work Packages will consist of business processes (eg, hardware and item procurement, business process design, project closure processes/procedures), system

analysis, system design, application development, system installation and roll-out, system testing and evaluation;
Costings.  ROM cost estimates must be provided as part of the project documentation. This includes hardware, software, labour costs, overhead costs, and training costs. Costs should be

estimated in Australian dollars;
Manpower.  The BHP Billiton Projects Division will undertake the project with existing staff and PM contractors (as required). Site environmental managers can do some of the data and test

measurement work as part of their daily jobs. However, any additional manpower required to deliver the EPIS will need to be costed and justified in the context of the complete project solution;
Locations.  The EPIS must be rolled out to all 21 locations in Australia, South Africa, Colombia and the USA (including the Hay Point Coal Terminal near Mackay);
Measurements. See notes on environmental measurements and various required equipment and additional staff members. Note, the EPIS will require software application development, hardware-

software integration, data transfer systems development, and may include data storage to be placed on a secure cloud based solution. Also, the EPIS has a three-tier architecture with clean

data, application and web interface layers; and,
Assumptions.  Make any sensible assumptions as required, including a detailed supporting argument for each assumption, and include them in an annex to each PMM document.
ANNEX A: PMM Reports Structure
(a) Budgeted Cash Outflow:  $7 million. (eg, software development, labour and work costs, hardware including data loggers, flow meters, WiFi devices and so on)
(b) Projected Annual Benefits: $4 million.  (eg, water savings, reduced emissions, reduced waste, increased recycling)
(c) Projected Annual Ongoing Support Costs: $2 million (eg, maintenance, additional staffing, item replacement)
(d) Project Parameters: EPIS lifecycle = 5 years; BHP Billiton Board mandated ROR = 10%; Estimated cash flows are post tax.

ANNEX B: Environmental Measures

In accordance with the BHP Billiton Sustainability Report (2012), several environmental performance measures must be delivered in the project scope.

Notes:
LAND.   Land measurements will be undertaken using GIS (airborne survey and satellite). Data will be transmitted to the EPIS application resident on the BHP Sustainability applications server;
WATER.   All water will be measured using instrumented water meters. Water quality testing will be conducted by site environmental managers. Test results will be transmitted to the EPIS

application resident on the BHP Sustainability applications server;
ENERGY.   Energy use data will be extracted from the BHP Billiton Coal business ERP system. Data will be transmitted to the EPIS application resident on the BHP Sustainability applications

server;
EMISSIONS. GHG are calculated using fuel volumes (drawn from the ERP system) and combustion conversion factors (in the EPIS application). All other emissions (including rogue emissions)

measurements are recorded using instrumented gas measurement meters. Data will be transmitted to the EPIS application resident on the BHP Sustainability applications server;
RECYCLING.  All recycled waste products are weighed using electronic scales and wireless consoles (ruggedized tablets). Data will be transmitted to the EPIS application resident on the BHP

Sustainability applications server; and,
WASTE.  All waste products are weighed using electronic scales and wireless consoles (ruggedized tablets). All waste water is measured using instrumented meters. Data will be transmitted to

the EPIS application resident on the BHP Sustainability applications server.
