rgument Analysis Essay For each unit, students are asked to write an essay analyzing one of the articles pertaining to a specific business ethics topic (so anything but Plato, Mill, Kant, or MacIntyre). Students are asked to determine what the main thesis of the article is, what theory the author is employing, and whether or not they think the argument is convincing (does the argument follow? are there examples of this in real life? are there counter-examples to the argument? are there important holes in the argument that the author is missing?). These essays are to be 400-600 words each. Essays are to be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on the day they are due. The fourth essay is due the same day of the final.
Ethical Theories Journal 2 (Kantianism) Students will be exposed to three major ethical theories: utilitarianism, Kantianism, and communitarianism. Students are asked to live one day as a utilitarian and another day as a Kantian, and then write about their ethical experiences for those days. Students should explain how these theories determined their decisions throughout the day. The point of the assignment is to see whether students grasp the theories correctly and are able to apply them to real-life ethical circumstances. Do not discuss events of the day that are not related to ethical decisions. Since this is a journal, it does not need to be written as a formal essay but justifications are necessary to understand how students reached their decisions. Students are expected to write two journals, each will be 600-800 words long. You are expected to actually write about your day, not write fiction. Essays are to be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on the day they are due
