Memories, experiences, relationships, travels, etc., that were significant to you; choose a story about your life that needs to be told because it is a large part of who (and perhaps, where) you are today.
Assignment:
Write a creative, descriptive account of a portion of your lifeexperiences can range from a few moments to months, or even years. Use an abundance of details and specific descriptions, and dont be afraid to show versus tell. The more you show your experience, and let your reader have some room to think and feel in response to it, the more accessible and universal (and appealing) your composition will be.
What you write about must elucidate, educate, or inform your reader about the memory, experience, relationship, etc., that youve selected as your subject matter. Remember that you are telling a story about your life, and you must be deliberate in your delivery, or whatever it is that youre trying to relay to the reader may not be clear.
Last, keep in mind that your memoir needs to strike a balance between chronicling memories AND reflecting upon and/or analyzing the importance of these recollections in your life.
