Spend some time researching private or alternative school systems on the Internet. Some examples include Montessori schools, Waldorf schools, magnet schools, and the unschooling approach, though there are many more out there. Be sure that when you are researching your type of school, you are focusing on the “true” philosophy of the school (for example, not all schools that call themselves Montessori follow that actual approach).
Write a brief, 1-2 paragraph synopsis of the philosophy you researched–how it differs from traditional schooling, the costs to parents, availability, touted benefits, etc. Then give your response to the philosophy in light of what you have learned about Piaget’s (and Vygotsky, from Week 1) theories in a strong paragraph to end your response (so 3 paragraphs in all).
