This assignment has two parts: the interview and the analysis.
Interview
For the first part of this assignment, you will interview someone who works in the social and behavioral services field. The interview will focus on how the organization they work for promotes a diverse, culturally competent, and collaborative environment for their employees and the clients they serve. The interview can be done in person or via e-mail.
Please use the items below as your main interview questions.
- What population does the organization serve?
- What are the demographics of the clients the organization serves?
- What are the demographics of the employees?
- In what capacity do employees work with clients?
- How does the organization educate its employees about diversity?
- Are employees who work directly with clients provided with specific diversity training or education?
- Are there policies or procedures in place that specifically deal with cultural competency or diversity? For example, are there interpreters available for clients who do not speak English as their primary language? Are brochures printed in multiple languages?
- Are there any educational or professional development programs offered by the organization that focus on diversity or cultural awareness?
Analysis
For this second part of the assignment, research best practices on workplace diversity and advocacy approaches that would apply to the organization where the person you interviewed works. You must use a minimum of two peer-reviewed journal articles and the textbook. You may use additional resources if you wish. Use these readings to help you reflect on the information you gathered in your interview.
Address the following headings in your analysis:
- Diversity Implications: Describe specific diversity implications, supported by the demographic make up of clients and employees in the organization.
- Best Practices: Compare current research on best practices on workplace diversity to the organization’s current practices.
- Advocacy Approaches: Propose culturally sensitive advocacy approaches or techniques appropriate for the clients that are served by this organization.
- Cultural Awareness Strategies: Propose strategies that are supported by research that could be implemented to promote, educate, or raise cultural awareness for this organization.

Assignment Requirements
- Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
- APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to APA current edition style and formatting.
- Number of resources: Minimum of 2 peer-reviewed resources in addition to the course text.
- Length of paper: 4–5 typed double-spaced pages, not including required cover sheet and reference page. No abstract required.
- Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
- Turnitin: You are required to submit your paper to Turnitin prior to submitting it here. Turn in all assignments into Turnitin (without the cover sheet and references). Once you receive the Turnitin report submit the report, along with the assignment, including the cover sheet and references, in the assignment area.
