Many Americans support corporal punishment to discipline little children. Spanking is also common in the animal world. Interview the parents of at least two (2) preschool children you know (You may use your own little ones). Try to include parents who spank their children. What are their views on spanking? Summarize the parents’ views. Then, observe the children. Do you see any difference in the behavior of those who are spanked versus those children who are not? Summarize the children’s behavior. Finally, discuss the desirability and effectiveness of corporal punishment in enforcing discipline. If you think corporal punishment is desirable, would you set any limiting conditions?
