Perform a close reading (explication) of a poem. The first part of the essay should be a brief (4-6 sentences) paragraph summarizing the poem. The second, and most important, part of the essay should be the explication of the poem. You should focus on particular words, language, imagery, structure, etc. that lead to an understanding of the overall piece. More specifically, what does the poet do in the writing of the poem, to enhance the meaning, referring back to your summary?
