Midterm Essay (50 points)

Make sure your essay is a full four pages (not 3½ and no longer than 5), double-spaced, with 1in margins

***Be sure to  attach a copy of the 250MTRubric document to the back of your paper. This will be worth 5 points***  Not only will this make the papers easier to grade, but by providing you with a rubric, you will know exactly what I will be looking for in the papers, so make sure you read it!

Making an outline for yourself (what readings you will use, connections, examples you will use, discussion points, etc.) before you start writing will most likely be very helpful

Prompt

This semester we have talked about sexuality and gender (amongst other identities) being regulated by government, schools, religion, politics, social settings, etc and how it can function different ways in different contexts.  Using 3 readings from the course, discuss some of the ways (there are many) in which (queer) gender and sexuality is regulated, monitored and/or policed in society and the implications it has on individuals and larger social systems.

Remember, we have been practicing this kind of writing and analysis in the in-class assignments, so you have done this before, just be sure to include a solid intro and conclusion.

Please pick up three readings out of the nine readings that will be uploaded in here. Remember that we’re three people doing the same essay for the same class.
