Place in Tradition

While ‘place’ is unique and original to each fiction world, place (and fiction worlds) exist within traditions, both literary and cultural, typically echoing and replying to those traditions.
Analyze (close-read) the similar aspect(s) of ‘place’ in one of our short readings and one of our primary novels—either Ender’s Game or Stardust. Identify the singular characteristics of both aspects of place (the short text and the novel) in order to argue an original thesis about the role ‘place’ plays in the original fiction world of the novel while retaining (recognizing/responding to) tradition(s).
