this is an opportunity to get some real world experience.
You will be face to face with a person who has a wealth of knowledge and experience managing an organization. Please consider this person to be a resource who can give you wisdom and knowledge.
Interviewing a family member is okay, as long as that person has a responsible management position. It is desirable to interview a person in a larger organization because that person will likely have a bigger world view.
Assignment:
1.
Find a chief executive or other senior executive
in the organization of your choice.
Find someone early because it may be awhile before his or her busy schedule can work
you in. Contact them and request an interview of 30 minutes or so.
2.
Design your interview questions along lines that are interesting to you
and that relate to topics we have covered in class. Bring written questions to your interview.
3.
Conduct your interview and take notes (or record the session
if that is okay with your manager)
.4.
Complete a one page paper relating how this manager thinks and performs compared to what you have learned so far in class
.
5.It is always polite to send a hand written thank you note
within 24 hours of your meeting Your manager’s business card will have the needed information.
Your paper is to be one side of one page single or double spaced. 11 point or larger type with adequate margins
Please be concise.
The goal is to report on as many topics covered in the course as possible.
