In what ways does cinematography create the tone of a supernatural film, use two examples and your own film, voices? ˜Voices’ ˜The ghost of a small child tries to recover the relationship of his parents before his father leaves permanently.’ On this film I was a cinematographer (director of photography). The director asked me how I can set the mood with lighting, editing and camera movements and I set about achieving that through various techniques, such as the washed out film colours, the grain on the film, the documentary style shooting and the natural lighting to give a verite feel. You can explore other methods by cinematographers on other films and relate it back to Voices. As a reference point you can use two other films of your choice but keep it back to the journey of the film making process in ˜voices’ I would also like a small mention on the montage twoards the end, and discuss a little on montage and how it can be effective at compressing time, please refrenence ˜the apartment scene’ from City of God (2002) as inspiration.
