Hi
Key questions students may consider include:
? What makes cities successful?
? How do we measure success?
? What are the most appropriate goals for professional practice and governmental intervention?
? How can we define infrastructure or urban infrastructure
? What kind of infrastructure is required to make a city successful?
? How can infrastructure investment influence the success of cities?
? How can this infrastructure be put in place? What strategic options are available?
? How do cities and governments ensure they get the strategy right?
? How can major developments with multiple impacts be planned within short time frames?
? How can projects be financed and procured in the face of volatile property and finance markets?
? What is the right balance of free market activity and planning intervention?
? Are the joint skills available to formulate and manage innovative partnership and other delivery models?
? What elements of infrastructure can be distinguished (for instance physical (housing, transport, services etc), social (cultural and educational etc) and administrative (governance etc)?
? How far is infrastructure durable (eg beyond the Olympics)?
? How far is infrastructure sustainable?
Individual literature review should focus on a particular theme (SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE) and should explore this with reference to your chosen UK city (NEWCASTLE).
The review should include:
o A description of your UK urban area study and the particular theme you are focusing on.
o An analysis of the issues and ideas raised in the literature, and a discussion of how these are manifest in particular examples in your case study city.
However, in general terms you need to bear in mind the following advice:
1. combine summary (describing other peoples? views) with synthesis (re-organising this information).
2. look at examples (eg in most journal articles).
3. ensure some sources are current.
4. do not have overwhelmingly web-based sources.
5. get across the ideas not just the sources ? ie this is not an annotated bibliography (each source described separately) but a consideration of the relevant themes and issues (related to point 1).
6. ensure the best organization for your aim ? there is no one set way of organizing your review (other than basic intro, middle, end) ? so you need to work out your argument first depending on what you think the mass of material is telling you.
7. use sub-heading to assist the reader (again likely to be based on themes / issues).
8. focus on what is important ? you need to be selective.
9. use quotes sparingly.
10. make sure all citation is in correct Harvard style.
11. make sure your own ideas/interpretation is included (especially in the discussion / interpretation and conclusion).
12. revise to ensure all details correct.
13. provide a reference list in correct Harvard style
It is very important that you do a lot of research and use the internet for finding journals, articles, plans etc. Not use so many books.
If you have any inqueries do not hesitate to contact me by email. And remember that this is about SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE IN NEWCASTLE.
Looking forward to read the literature review.
February 9 13:01 February 10 13:01 Hi,
This is not a good literature review.
The question I sent is only questions to think about when writing a lit.review, not to use them as headlines!
This literature review says very little about the sports infrastructure in Newcastle! And the reference part is not what I askes for. You were suppose to use webpages, journals, articles and not many book. The books says nothing about sports infrastructure in Newcastle.
I request a re-writing of this essay as soon as possible. This is not what I paid for.
I have a deadline for this on Monday the 14th. Please make sure it is ready before that?

The reference bit is quite important.Do not to use so many books but to use web pages, journals & articles I can find on the internet.. this.! And not to use the questions I gave as headlines. They are just questions you need to think about when writing the literature review. Use self created headlines..
