Being a student of mass communication or even media studies means not only being able to critique works but also being able to assess why directors made films a

certain way or even why the media framed a story a certain way.

For the first part of this assignment, each student must read “A Short Guide About Writing About Film.” (ATTACHED HERE) When you are done reading, write 2 to 3 page

paper taking one of the approaches discussed in the readings and applying it to a film that your group has been assigned. While I know it may not be possible, I highly

encourage you to choose an academy award nominated film or winner from 2012, 2013, or even 2014.
