Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining

The ILO is a UN agency that promotes social justice and internationally recognized human and labor rights. Established in 1919, it is the only surviving major creation of the Treaty of Versailles. The ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work covers four areas:

  1. Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
  2. The elimination of forced and compulsory labor
  3. The abolition of child labor
  4. The elimination of discrimination in the workplace

Research the history of international labor standards. Are labor standards feasible? What are the advantages and disadvantages of standards? Write a short paper describing the ILO history and answering the questions about their standards.
