Investigative Employee Rights

Consider Reading 4.26 on pp. 289-290, Getting Information from Employees Who Know to Those Who Can and Will Respond. Develop a research paper that addresses the following:
•Provide a brief synopsis of Mr. Lee’s concerns regarding Lehman Brothers.
•What are sensing mechanisms and why are they important?
•What is the humble firm and how does it encourage ethical behavior?
•Describe what leads to the types of behaviors at Lehman and other companies that eventually collapse.
•Why are managers unable to simply rely on their ethics hotlines?

Support your paper with minimum of three (3) scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Employees, Technology and Ethical Responsibilities

Technology has permitted employees to work more quickly, more efficiently, and even from home; telecommuting has become an option for many companies and their employees. The interesting dichotomy is that although technology makes employees’ work much easier, it also provides tracking for employers of virtually everything employees do while at work. Technology also provides the employee with the opportunity to identify actions that might be detrimental to people, organizations, or countries. For this assignment, you are not to determine if technology is a workplace efficiency savior or barrier; you will determine what the responsibilities of the employer and the employee are and what ethical responsibilities each have for the other. The question to ponder is “Can employee rights be protected if they identify an ethical issue for senior management and a resolution is not implemented?”

1. Review the resources listed in the Books and Resources area below to prepare for this week’s assignment(s).

2. Complete the following Spotlight on Skills if you need assistance with the tools used to complete your assignments.
Spotlight on Skills: Develop your Logical Thinking and Argumentative Skills
In this assignment, and in many others here at Northcentral University, you will be called upon to present your ideas, make arguments, and defend a point of view. All of this calls for research based evidence, as well as logical thinking skills that provide the framework for presenting this evidence. To begin, develop your logical thinking skills through first considering the developmental stages of your own thinking: Developing as rational persons: Viewing our development in stages. Then, review the Jones, R, (2010) article to learn more about what constitutes a good argument.
