Discuss possible best practices from the guerrilla marketing campaign that different types of small businesses could leverage. Provide specific examples to support your response.

RESPOND

One of the most effective guerrilla marketing I have seen is these mini, noncommercial, commercials on YouTube. These commercials have actual kids and their friends playing with toys but not asking for a sale. It is simply individuals playing, showing excitement, and other kids watching these commercials end up wanting these toys so they can achieve the same kind of imaginative adventurous fun. It really is ingenious. These commercials are short and often followed by another commercial or even sagas. It shows the product, all the benefits, and in many cases explains where you can buy them. I have seen links to these commercials on face book as well. Creating a conversion from social media to a video is almost genius as you get a possible consumer who is willing to give you a minute to provide entertainment that if properly utilized could lead to a sale.

For any small business that is trying to get their product out there; mastering the social media conversion to gain an audience that will watch a presentation is a necessity. It is completely free and the best way to achieve recognition from millions of individuals. Often this plays on the seemingly inherent notion that each person should have their 15 minutes of fame. People will use your product or idea and make a video that further promotes your product. Today marketing requires a mastery of social media to compete in most industries.

DISCUSSION

From the second e-Activity, determine the best possible way to leverage Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites to advertise and promote the small business of your choice. Explain your rationale.

Select a small business with which you are familiar and then determine the best way for that business to stretch its advertising budget. Provide specific examples to support your response.

RESPOND

I apologize if this post seems similar to the first discussion, but my impression of guerrilla marketing is inclusive of social media. The presidential election is a great example of twitter usage. Through twitter you have live up to the minute updates of votes. those updates promote somebody somewhere which leads to increased searches of sites and individuals which often have you cruising through many advertisements as you seek further information. Facebook is a huge catalyst for marketing. Facebook offers a inexpensive pay marketing campaign creator that reaches individuals with interest that match your product or service. Savvy business owners can collude with their friends to post a funny pic that links to services or even suggestive photos that make you think of a service you may need in the near future. I.E. automotive services, food delivery, or child care.

I am aware of a great off-road shop that has a location that no one would know about unless you are looking for it. SO advertising is crucial. Currently the owner only does word of mouth because he doesn’t want to soak money into advertising without a guaranteed return on investments. Social media and YouTube is his winning combination. People love to see videos of people doing extreme things like off-roading in crazy locations. What a great way to advertise your products and services without worrying about cost. People often overlook community involvement and the impact that your reputation with the people can bring to your business. Volunteering is free, and wearing a company shirt while doing it is even better.

DISCUSSION

Describe two (2) examples of how either black slaves or white abolitionists used literature or the visual arts as a form of protest against slavery. Compare this to a modern example of art used for social protest.

RESPOND

Two examples of how black slaves used visual arts as a form of protesting slavery in Eyre Crowe’s portrait where slaves are dressed up and ready to be sold he did this portrait while traveling with author William Makepeace Thackeray saw these fifteen African American people waiting to be sold and he started sketching them and the people that were going to bid on them decided not to because of the portrait, the auctioneer was very upset. Mark Twain wrote a book called Huckleberry Finn and in this book he talks about how society saw slaves not as people but as legal property. Kevin Larmee has a painting called “The Free Social Encyclopedia this portrait illustrates white people and black people swimming in a river of water having a good time to me this portrait says stop racism.
