During the last 4 weeks of the course, you examined the process of day-to-day and minute-to-minute execution of plans, attempting to complete production to meet weekly demand or to get orders through the system by their due-date. Much of the focus during these activities was on the constraining work center, but the role of other work centers in maintaining the constraints output was also critical. This is what execution is. The planning and control system you developed for the first part of the course stopped short of any execution process. Given what you have experienced attempting to maximize productivity and performance in the plant simulators, what functions would you add to your planning and control system to provide more and better information to aid in the execution process? What is missing in your ADV system to make these minute-by-minute and hour-to-hour decisions? What would you add to your ADV system to make day-to-day and hour-to-hour decision making easier? How would it work? What would be the desired outputs to help in decision making? What information would be needed to make it work? How would it be integrated into your current ADV system? What logic and inputs would be necessary to get the desired outputs?
