Business Title: Provision of care facility – A child care center
Prepared for: The management of my company
Description
The following is a business proposal for a company that is willing to establish a child care center, as a facility to benefit its employees. Establishment of the child care center will also be aimed at increasing the company?s profit margin while providing services to the employees.
The company is in great need of increased labor out-put, and the management also understands the impact provision of incentives has on worker?s or staff?s morale, and which is also a major factor in determining their productivity and commitment to service. The company being reliant on semi-skilled labor, and having employed a huge work force, should be informed about the consequences overburdened workers could or are likely to impact on the company?s product quality and quantity out-put. Taking a share of workers problems or providing services needed by them is a great gesture for care and would go a long way in achieving their morale and symbolizing the employer?s recognition of their need for welfare (Trevin?o & Nelson, 2011). This amounts to innovation in that; it will increase the workers productivity through tapping the company?s potential of establishing an independent institution that functions to enhance the company?s productivity, the idea if implemented may also act as an incentive that provides worker motivation.
The Objective
The company aims at providing its workers with requisite services that are home related by establishing a child care center. It is notable that the workers are in their productive ages, and that the long hours at work could be a strain and a possible source of stress in their home-related issues, which includes; the challenge that they face while trying to strike a balance between their jobs and their needs at home. As a result, the company finds it beneficial to provide for some of the workers requirements as an incentive. By establishing a child care facility, the workers raising young kids will no longer need to worry about the safety of their kids, or rush to and from work to attend to their kids.
The Goal
The company is reliant on a huge work force, whose welfare is a great determinant of the company?s productivity. The goals behind the establishment of the child care facility are: To provide affordable child care services for workers with young kids, and to establish an environment that is safe and fitted with a wide variety of child development facilities such as toys for games and learning equipment.
The Solution and Benefits to the Company
A child care facility that is open to all workers would be a relief to most employees that are working in the company. By providing a high standard and quality environment for children of different ages means that the workers will no longer need to rush at home after work, or have a stressful day getting worried about the conditions of their kids. This will be more attractive to the workers since the prices are affordable.
To the company?s management, the benefit will accrue in terms of a reduced wage bill and a motivated work force, this is because; the collective monetary contributions made by workers accessing the facility may be used to manage the facility and reduce the company?s expenditure on wages. By providing services to its workers, the workers will be guaranteed of their employees care for their wellbeing, and as a result, they will be motivated to work towards the company?s benefits, which mean working towards increased output. The facility if located close to the company may be of great help to those workers who have to commute to other child care facilities, since they will no longer need to stress or rush after work.
The services provided will include; a safe playing environment, keen supervision from trained child care takers and a wide variety meals that are suitable for kids at the workers discretion.
Requirement and Resources Needed
The main requirement that has to be met before embarking on the project would be; collaboration with the local head start program and acquiring a license from the local state authorities since it is a minimum requirement in most states. The company will also need to make some inter-departmental adjustments that will require the personnel and welfare departments to collaborate so as to facilitate the incorporation of workers into the program. The two departments will need to establish a simple platform that can enable workers to enroll or exit from the program at will, this will be necessary so as to effectively implement the financial and wage implications.
To establish the facility, the company will need a well-structured premises that is spacious and hazard free. The outdoor section of the premises should be free from dump conditions and in an environment with high hygiene standards and also have a free air playing ground with no blind spots to allow easy supervision of young kids. The outdoor area should also have secluded shading and basking areas. The indoor sections of the center should also be spacious and allocating each child a minimum of 32 square feet per child for indoor activity. Other requirements are; diapering facilities, a heating and air conditioning system mounted with thermometers so as to detect thermal changes that could be detrimental to the kid?s health. The indoor section should also be furnished with spacious tables and special feeding tables for children who do not eat at the table, straight chairs, washable cots (for napping toddlers) and single cribs with water proof mattresses.
The Facility will also require attendance from a good number of highly qualified staffs who are professional child care takers, security staff and catering officers, these staff needs to be in the right ratio to the children so as to maximize supervision (Chui et al. 2012). The facility will also require equipments for games and playing facilities that are needed by young kids. If possible, the facility could also provide learning experiences through provision of early childhood education, and as a result, the required tutors will also have to be sourced.
Cost Summary
The company will provide the premises; this means that no rent costs will be incurred. If this is so, then the following is a summary of the costs associated with furnishing the center.
