ASSIGNMENT TIPS AND HINTS
Assignments are designed for you to show your understanding of the course materials and your ability to communicate at the college level. Compose your essay using Standard

American English as described in the APA guidelines available at Kaplan University Writing Center. You need to follow formal APA formatting for the assignment to include title page and reference

page. Make sure you cite your reference in the text and on the reference page using proper APA format.

You will find an Assignment Rubric used to grade the assignment in the Syllabus. The assignment is due in the Dropbox by end of day (EOD) on Tuesday during Unit 5. Grades for the

assignment will be available in the Gradebook by EOD on Sunday following the close of the unit. All times are in Eastern Time.

This assignment is worth a maximum of 75 points.

Instructions:
1.    The foundation of your assignment is the selection of either the Balance Sheet or the Statement of Operations financial statement. YOU ARE GOING TO CREATE A FINANCIAL STATEMENT

AND THEN WRITE AN ESSAY ON IT.  Review the instructions below and let me know if you need any assistance ?
2.    Complete your chosen financial statement using the accounts below:

Note: You will not use all of these accounts in your chosen financial statement. You will need to calculate some of the numbers for your statement. Follow proper form as described and shown in

the text. Assume all net assets at the beginning of the year are unrestricted.

3.    Write a five paragraph essay on the:
a.    Why you chose the financial statement you selected
b.    Purpose of the financial statement
c.    Advantages of the financial statement
d.    Disadvantages of the financial statement
e.    Users of the financial statement
4.    Length:
a.    Minumum of 4 pages including title page, essay, financial statement and reference page.
b.    Maximum of 6 pages including title page, essay, financial statement and reference page.
c.    Points will be deducted for not meeting the length requirement. It is harder to write concisely rather than to ramble on in a paper. Quantity does not equal quality. Most business

writing should be concise and to the point.
5.    Format:
