The law prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation by public institutions and those that receive federal funds. Federal law also requires universities to take “affirmative action” to eliminate or correct the effects of past discrimination, intentional or not. At the same time, the courts have issued some contradictory decisions.
Some people argue that affirmative action is just “reverse discrimination.” Do you see it this way?
