Supercoilingof dna within cells

Histone proteins are proteins that are involved in the supercoilingof DNA within cells. Essentially, DNA is wound tightly around these histone proteins tosave space until the DNA needs to be accessed. Why are histone proteins positively charged?Please explain in 2-3 sentences.
