1.The range is one of the easiest measures of dispersion to figure. The lowest value is subtracted from the highest value for a given data set and the difference is the range. For example, if we have ten scores for a given data set (80, 84, 85, 86, 87, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94) we simply subtract the lowest value (80) from the highest value (94) to get our range (14). Critics have argued that the range is a suspect measure of dispersion because it can be easily manipulated by individual values, in a manner similar to our previous discussion of the mean. For this discussion forum topic, I would like you to discuss why the range is so susceptible to individual extreme values. Include a data set that helps underscore your ideas regarding why the range is so susceptible to individual extreme data values. Please note, the data set does not need to be excessive for this assignment. Rather, a data set composed of ten individual scores will be sufficient. Also, please describe the value or usefulness of the range when conducting statistical analysis. In other words, how can the range be beneficial to us in describing the distribution of a data set?
